Sometimes you need a cocktail that places you right at the scene of where you want to be, and for me lately, it’s been on a tropical island. This is a rare feeling because I don’t typically crave beach vacations. I’m more of a Vineyard and cabin type of girl but right now this Tropical Escape Rum Cocktail is exactly what I need. It’s slightly sweetened with fresh pineapple juice and has a beautiful texture from the cream of coconut. The rum and curacao add the right amount of spirit to help you feel like you’re on a tropical island.
What is Curacao?
Curacao, pronounced kur-ah-sau, is a liqueur flavored with the dried peel of the bitter orange laraha, a citrus fruit, grown on the Dutch island of Curacao. Naturally, the curacao liqueur is colorless, and then artificial color is added which then introduces an exotic blue color.
How to make a Tropical Escape Rum Cocktail
Add all of the ingredients (except the garnish) to a shaker and shake until chilled. Pour the cocktail into a glass over ice and garnish with 3 Luxardo cherries and 1 orange slice. Luxardo cherries can be found in your local liquor store.
