Who doesn’t love a good pizza?! A homemade pizza fresh out the oven with my favorite toppings is what I like to call a good time. Growing up, pizza nights were special to me because having pizza meant that dinner was going to be casual, fun, and full of laughter. My parents, sister, and I would sit around the dinner table and enjoy each other’s company, recap our week, and just hang out. Pizza nights were one of the many moments when we bonded the most as a family. That is why I am so excited to partner with Citterio to make a new family favorite; a Hot Coppa, Roasted Ham, and Speck Pizza using their Fresco line of quality meats.
Citterio is a family owned business who provides quality products to the whole family in Italy and around the world. With over 140 years of experience, Citterio has perfected their quality and innovation as they continue to focus on the health and goodness of their products. Citterio is committed to a high-standard where quality is first as they bring the flavors and scents of Italian tradition straight to our tables.
The Citterio Fresco line is a complete line of specialty products made with care and passion starting with the choice of meats. These meats are thin, soft slices, and delicately packaged so that they are as good and fresh, as when they were just sliced. The products in the Fresco line range from Panini, Antipasto, Mortadella, and so many others. The slices are perfect for entertaining in a charcuterie board or snack plate and is also the perfect deli meat to use for sandwiches. For our pizza we are using the Oven Roasted Ham, Speck, and Hot Coppa and I know it may sound like a lot but trust me, the flavors work so well together.
I chose these three products because each meat brings something special to the pizza. Though thinly sliced, the Hot Coppa provides a nice meaty bite with just a little bit of heat that works well with the pizza sauce to balance out any sweetness. I also think you will love the aromatic taste and tenderness of the Oven Roasted Ham. It’s delicious on its own but on the pizza the flavor really kicks in. The Speck is an absolute treat! This smoked prosciutto elevates the pizza and adds that perfect smoked flavor. The Speck bakes to a nice crisp which really adds a good texture to the pizza.
How to make this Hot Coppa, Roasted Ham, and Speck Pizza
Making The Dough
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 450° and grease or spray a pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray. In a large mixing bowl fitted with dough hook attachment, add the water, yeast, and sugar. Stir well and let the yeast proof for 5-7 minutes until it’s foamy.
Step 2
Once the yeast has proofed mix in the olive oil, 2 cups of the flour, salt, and Italian seasoning (optional). As the dough is forming it should start to pull away from the bowl, if it doesn’t add some of the remaining flour until a soft/sticky dough forms. Dump the dough onto a floured surface and knead the dough until smooth and manageable. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out and shape into a 12 inch round then transfer to your prepared pizza pan. Gently Prick the dough with a fork to ensure air bubbles do not form. Pre bake the dough for 5 minutes, then remove from the oven.
Building your pizza
Step 3
Add the pizza sauce then top with the Hot Coppa, Oven Roasted Ham, and then place the Speck in between the empty spaces. Add the fresh mozzarella to the pizza and bake for 18-20 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Be sure to bake on the bottom rack in your oven.
Let the pizza cool for a few minutes, then top with fresh basil, grated parmesan cheese, and crushed red pepper if that’s your style. As I said before, this pizza is delicious and a must make recipe.
