If you are a meatball fan then you will love this homemade meatball recipe because these are flavorful, juicy, moist, and so easy to make. With pasta being a weekly meal for me, whipping up a batch up these meatballs always adds a nice touch to my spaghetti or any other pasta. These have also been a hit as appetizers for gatherings and such!
Ingredients
Ground beef & ground pork mixture. I like this mixture because the pork adds flavor and the fat also helps add moisture to the meatball. I also suggest using 80% lean ground beef, again for moisture so that the meatballs don’t dry out when baking.
Egg. The egg will act as a binder & be sure to mix the egg well before adding it into the meat.
Freshly grated parmesan cheese. You can’t have meatballs without some parmesan cheese in them. Here you can substitute any freshly grated cheese you like the most but the parmesan adds the right amount of flavor.
Parsley, onion, garlic, smoked paprika, oregano, salt and pepper are my must haves to incorporate flavor and well balanced spices into the meatballs.
Panko bread crumbs are what I use to help the meatball keep their shape and absorb moisture.
Worcestershire sauce because it adds an incredible boost of flavor while retaining moisture during the cooking process. You can sub the Worcestershire for water or milk.
Marinara Sauce or any sauce you like. For these I usually use my Homemade pasta sauce without the meat or a jar of Raos marinara sauce.
Can you freeze homemade meatballs?
Yes you can! After they have cooked let them cool then store in a freezer safe bag. When reheating, let them fully thaw out then heat in the oven until warm all the way through.
