Cherry Bourbon Cocktail

2.8K

This is a night cap cocktail. I enjoy this one with a bowl of popcorn and movie. Those deep warm vanilla and caramel notes from the bourbon add such a smooth finish to the sweet cherries. When cherry season comes around you can be certain that I’m serving up cherry bourbons aka “Cherry Bae” all summer long.

To make the simple syrup

Simmer the water and honey in a small pot over medium high heat until the honey is full mixed into the water. Bring the water to a boil then reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and let it cool completely before using. You can store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

For the Cherry Bourbon cocktail

Add the bourbon, cherries, lime juice, honey simple syrup, and bitters to a shaker or glass. Muddle the cherries to release the juices. Pour the cocktail into an old fashioned glass over ice. Enjoy!
