A cocktail class honoring black mixologists who pioneered and inspired modern mixology and cocktail culture. In this class, we will make a delicious cocktail created by Cato Alexander and honor the Mint Julep kings, Jasper Crouch, Tom Bullock, Jim Cook, and John Dabney.

Ingredients
Alcohol
Brandy
Bourbon
Angostura aromatic bitters
Herbs, Citrus & fruit juice
Mint
1 whole lemon
Pineapple juice
Bar tools
Cocktail shaker
Jigger
Fine mesh strainer
Bar spoon
Small knife
Syrups
Simple syrup
Raspberry simple syrup (see recipe below) or raspberry jam
Garnish
Mint
Raspberries (for garnish and the syrup)
Pineapple slice or pineapple leaf
Lemon slice
Ice

Copper Julep cup, copper mug, or rocks glass
Pilsner or highball glass

What to prepare before class:
Raspberry syrup
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
- 1/2 cup water
Add all of the ingredients to a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Remove from the heat and carefully strain the syrup into a glass jar, be sure to strain.
