Have you ever had a cocktail that was just so good that you couldn’t stop thinking about it? Well, this is the one that has had a hold on me. I recently visited a local hotel in DC called Yours Truly where I ordered the Lil Fizzle cocktail. The ingredients in the cocktail were grapefruit, Italicus bergamotto, red bitters, and Prosecco so I knew I would enjoy it. Not only did I enjoy it, but I also loved it some much that I came home and ordered a bottle of Italicus Liqueur and tried to recreate the recipe as best as I could. My Bergamot & Grapefruit Spritz is pretty spot on and has been a weekly treat for me after work.
The Bergamot & Grapefruit Spritz is a low alcohol cocktail so this would be perfect for casual hosting or as a pre-dinner cocktail. This drink can also be made in advance and batched if preparing for a larger guest list. To do this, mix everything except for the ice and prosecco and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to pour. Then all you have to do is add ice to your glasses, pour the cocktail mix, then top each glass with prosecco.
Grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed or store-bought is fine
